In the winter, if there’s snow, this small park serves as a local place for sleds to hit the hills. But, that’s winter recreation. During the warmer months, soccer and softball fields attract team sports, while a small playground offers recreation for the younger set.

The park is named after a former elementary school that was onsite. Now a wooded area with a trail provides dog walkers with a place to exercise their pups.

The almost 12-acre park is located south of the Norton Train Station, which means it sits a residential area that is within walking distance to the Darien Commons commercial lifestyle center, home to Palmer’s Market, Gregorys Coffee. Keep in mind, (look at the map) to see that you need to cross over I-95 to accomplish that. To the south of the park, Norton Ave. will take you to the Post Rd where a neighborhood scale commercial strip is anchored by Papa Joe’s Ristorante Italiano. This eatery, is the go to fave, of countless of generations of area families of Italian descent. Mama Carmela’s Deli is next door, and Hindley Elementary School is across the street.

The park is maintained by the Town of Darien
